Show Notes
Want to collect baseball legends without chasing expensive rookie cards? Try building a collection of their final regular Topps baseball cards — a fun way to bring big names and great stories into a collection on a real-world budget.
In this episode of Collection Starters, we explore final cards of Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Al Kaline, Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose and Derek Jeter, plus bigger targets like Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax and Ted Williams.
You’ll learn how to:• Create a personal subset with a clear collecting theme• Start with nine players and one binder page• Define “final card,” including farewell cards released after retirement• Choose condition you’ll enjoy without overspending• Build at your own pace, with room for future additions
Whether you’re getting back into sports card collecting or looking for a new baseball card collection idea, this project gives every purchase a purpose. Some final cards remain expensive, but you can choose players and copies that fit your budget.
